In preparation for the upcoming last round of qualification in Africa ahead of the World Championships in Poland, Rwanda will be trying to make it to the global tournament for the very first time in the history of the country.

Rwanda’s head coach Paul Bitok talked to Focus Sports exclusively after the win, “It was a good game and we shall continue exposing the young ones so that they get experience at the high stage.”

The U-20 captain Aimable Mutuyimana led the attack alongside attackers Flavien Ndamukunda and youngster Fred Musoni to see off the visitors easier than the crowd expected considering their physical strength as earlier witnessed in the warm-up.

Bitok revealed that he is impressed with the arrival of the Algerian based duo of captain Christopher Mukunzi and Lawrence Yakan who will bring massive experience into the Rwandan side as they prepare to face Botswana again on Monday evening at the same venue.

Rwanda faced the Southern Africa team last weekend and won both games 3-1 and 3-0 before returning home to continue training while the visitors toured Algeria for friendly games against the national side.

Rwanda is placed in Pool T with hosts Cameroon, Algeria, Gabon and Nigeria and have to come top of the group if they are to make it to Poland in the summer. Bitok believes this is possible, however, only time will tell.

Rwanda lives Kigali on February 11 for the tournament that is scheduled for February 12-18.
