Rwandan national football team, the Amavubi stars, on Sunday evening regrouped for residential training ahead of a crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Benin. The two sides meet on September 8, 2013 in Porto Novo –Benin. The Amavubi team regrouped at La Palisse Hotel in Kigali and will start training today at Amahoro stadium.

The Rwandan National team coach Eric Nshimiyimana, however, starts his preparations for the crucial qualifier without professional prayers who are expected to join the camp early next month.

Rwanda whose hopes of qualifying have already been dashed will only be hoping for a win to help the country improve on its FIFA rankings which placed Rwanda in the 131st position in the world.

Professionals who include Haruna Niyonzima, Salomon Nirisarike, and Olivier Karekezi will join the team on September 2, just a week before the match.

ean Claude Ndoli, Rwanda’s number one goalkeeper will not be part of the team to play against Benin after accumulating two yellow cards in the last two qualifiers against Mali and Algeria which earned him a suspension.

Algeria tops Group H with 12 points and are through to the next round of the qualifiers, while second-placed Mali are four points adrift. Benin is placed third with five points and Rwanda is bottom of the table with two points.

Back home, the Uganda Cranes are also in the camp as they prepare to take the Teranga Lions of Senegal in Morocco on September 7. Uganda needs to win their game to advance to the next phase of the qualifiers. ps for Benin WC tie.
