National league title hopefuls, Inatek will take part in the 17th edition of the Kampala Amateur Volleyball (KAVC) Founders’ Memorial International Tournament scheduled for August 10-11 in Kampala, Uganda.

Confirming the development, Intatek’s head coach Dominique Kayonga Ntawanga said that they have already confirmed the club’s participation and they hope the tournament will offer the needed exposure to his players.

“The tournament will boost the playing level of the team and we believe by competing in such big tournaments, experience gained will be vital in helping us win the national league title,” added Ntawanga.

Besides Inatek, Rwanda national team U21 will compete in the tournament as away of effectively enhancing their preparations for the World Championships which will be held in Turkey at the end of August.

Kigali Volleyball Club, APR, and National University of Rwanda (NUR) are the other Rwandan clubs which will take part in the men’s category.

KCCB Kampala Volleyball Club

The line-up for invited teams in the men’s category include: Sport-S, Nemostars, KCCA, Mulago, Gulu, Old Kampala, Cobap, Sky, KAVC-A and KAVC-B, all from Uganda; Burundi will be represented by Rukizo and Muziga while Kenya will send Prisons, Administration Police, MT Kenya University and GSU.

Tanzania’s Prisons, Zimbabwe’s ZPR Support Unit and DR Congo’s the Young Club are the other clubs which will grace the tournament.

In the women category, KCCA, Sport-S, Nemostars, Ndejje Elites, Nkumba University, KAVC-A, KAVC-B, will represent Uganda; Burundi has only Muzinga, Kenya will send Prisons, Pipeline, National Water and KCB with Rwanda Revenue Authority being the sole Rwandan representative.

Nkumba have won the national league four times in the last five years while Ndejje are the defending champions.
