The USA originated surgeons who are part of the Team Heart told Umuseke that they have been able to successfully make surgery to 100 patients within ten years they have been working in Rwanda.

They said that the operations comprised of heart transplantations, reparations and are currently conducting the ‘Rheumatic heart disease operations.

One of the patients who benefited from these operations called Esperance Mukakizima affirms that she recovered from the heart disease due to the operations she benefitted from.

Another one called Jean Paul Iyamuremye underwent such operations and is currently feeling safe and conducts his daily activities normally.

According to the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) not less than 60 thousands suffering from the heart related diseases and 15% of Rwandans have the blood hypertension.

Dr Ceeya Patton-Bolman who leads the Team Heart told Umuseke that the whole team is proud of the work done, adding that the Rwanda is a good place to work in as it is safe and business friendly.

Medical experts say that the cardio vascular diseases are mostly caused by over drinking, tobacco smoking and malnutrition.

The USA medical experts have been in Rwanda since 2006 and will leaving the country on March, 14, 2016.
