The deadly incident happened Sunday when the riders were racing from Rubavu towards Kigali. Yves Kabera Iryamukuru clashed when he arrived at Shyorongi. The ambulance took him to hospital where he unfortunately passed away.
Iryamukuru was 22 years old and was part of Fly Cycling Club from Kayonza that is currently competing with others in the ongoing Rwanda Cycling Cup.
The competition precedes and is meant to prepare the riders for the forthcoming internationally ranked ‘Tour du Rwanda’ scheduled to start on November, 11, 2015.
The Rwanda Cycling Federation confirmed the news with no further details about the causes of the deadly accident.
Late Iryamukuru was born in Byimana , the currently Ruhango district.
