The most challenging issue for them relates to the fact that they are in impossibility to start any tangible business upon their properties.

The Province officials at the other side urge the locals to remain calm as the expropriation process is being monitored and carried out. The Rusumo dwellers keep wondering until when they will wait for the situation to get resolved.

The street Rusumo – Kigali is an international  street that is meant to facilitate the commercial activities between Rwanda and Tanzania. The challenge is that the street is thin in width and the officials are willing to expand its side, hence the expropriation of the people living in the neighborhoods.

Locals want  to be paid for the properties and relocate in the  somewhere else.

The governor of the Eastern Provinve Ms Uwamariya Odette said that the delaying of the payment of the fees has been caused by the delaying of the setting up of payment analysis and processes.

She however promised the locals a quick intervention as to pay them  the expropriation fees as agreed upon by both sides.

She promised that all the activities are soon to resume and this time, the process will be carried out as quick as possible.

Governor Uwamaliya has called upon the locals to be vigilant so that they could advocate for  their expropriation fees.

The road passes through different district Kirehe, Ngoma, Kayonza and  Rwamagana in the Eastern Province.
