Information from Rusizi district say that the executive secretary of Muganza sector named Philip Muhirwa is under the Police arrest for having mismanaged people’s treasury and he was backed with other three co-workers at the sector level.
He is accused of having misused money that was intended to be given to Genocide survivors who ought to be given cows in the Girinka Munyarwanda program.
Rwanda National Police spokesperson ACP Twahirwa confirmed the information saying that his arrest is due to the allegations that he misused funds allocated to the Girinka Munyarwanda program while he was leading the Bweyeye sector.
He highlighted that other three alleged accomplices are arrested but another one went missing but Police keeps searching him to be arrested.
The arrested ones are under police control as they wait for a transfer to the prosecution in the coming days.
ACP Twahirwa urged residents to be careful and avoid any involvement into a similar greedy situation that involves people into hardships and unnecessarily.
The Executive secretary Twahirwa is jailed alongside Oscar Niyonsaba, Emmanuel Nkurunziza and Daniel Niyonamenye.
According to the law, people found guilty in such circumstances are entitled to face seven to ten years in jail or pay a fee equivalent to two or four times of what one has been found guilty of having spoiled.
