Minister of Education Dr Biruta Vincent affirms that University of Rwanda will foster education and increase students and staff welfare.
Minister Biruta said that during a live show on Radio and TV live show where he explained to the public about the usefulness of the inception of the one University of Rwanda.
For him, this education system will improve on how lecturers teach and facilitate the cooperation between different university colleges to share research labs and libraries.
The new unique University of Rwanda will increase its recognition at the international level because,according to Dr Biruta, this depends on the number of students and lecturers a certain university has.
The delay to establish the university is due to the delay of the launch of the bill concerning its launch onto the national gazette.
Dr Biruta assures Rwandans that the beginning of the University will not negatively affect University’s activities.
Implementation of the new will changes will not affect the learning activities of students,assures Dr Biruta.
Dr Biruta said that universities fees known as Bursary will be paid by students’parents as the Government has set the Primary and the Secondary school lessons free of charge.
The first and the second levels on the Ubudehe categorization are the only ones to benefit from the government fees payment .
Minister Biruta Vincent said that these changes will benefit to students able to pay for themselves as the amount of money was reduced from 1.000,000 RwF for Science students to 600,000 to all students.
The One University of Rwanda will bring together seven different high institutions of learning including NUR(National University of Rwanda), SFB (Schoool of Finance and Banking), KHI(Kigali Health Institute), KIE(Kigali Institute of Education), ISAE (Institut des Sciences Agronomiques et d’Elevage), KIST(Kigali Institute of Science and Technology).
The Headquarters of the University of Rwanda will be located in SFB buildings in Kigali City.
