 The genocide survivors from the Mpare and Musange cells, Tumba sector in Huye district urge the officials to help them to rehabilitate a genocide memorial site that has been damaged throughout time.

The survivors said that during a commemoration event that took place on April, 22, at Mpare During the commemoration event the survivors expressed their pride of having overcame the genocide related challenges since 1994.

However the survivors urged all willing organizations and particulars to provide to them a helping hand as to help them rehabiltaite the Mpare memorial site that is getting damaged due to the time and construction materials that are decaying as time passes.

Aphrodice Rudasingwa the representative of IBUKA umbrella said that the organization keeps searching for technical and financial assets so to be able to innovate the memorial site that in which 5000 bodies of the innocent Tutsis are buried.

Paulin Mutemberezi in charge of Finance in Huye district told the gathering that the district officials wait fot the new budget to be set up and issued so to start building an innovated memorial site.

Mpare is known to be one of the places where the genocide has been committed lately and in the most inhumane situations.

Tutsis who escaped in different areas neighboring areas of Mpare went there to hide but were killed afterwards as the government officials forced Interahame to kill them all.
