The incident happened early noon hours in Kimihurura, Gasabo district where International Fertilizer Development Center and the Ikirezi Library are located . The fire was fought back by the RNP anti fire brigade and ceased to burn.
However the wide part of the store of the IFDC burnt and different tools such as computers, files, among others.
The IFDC is completing its missions in Rwanda but it encountered such calamity.
One of the Ikirezi library workers told Umuseke that Police intervened very quickly and stopped the fire from spreading and cause more harm.
The Police Spokesperson in Kigali City Spt Emmanuel Hitayezu affirms that the quick intervention was the key to hinder the fire from harming more belongings.
He revealed that the fire erupted due to the metal melting activities that were being conducted in the place.
The Police spokesperson Spt Hitayezu said that more details on the financial loss will be revealed later on.
