One of the owners of the one of nine factories that burnt told UM– USEKE that eight machines, and over 50 tons of maize crops all worthy 10 million Rwf were destroyed by the fire.

The most discouraging situation is that all who lost their wealthy did not get the insurance for their properties, which means that their lost all of the spoiled items.

One of the people who work in the complex Hagenimana Innocent, said that the fire erupted around 3PM.

We tried to minimize its impact and extinguish it, but in  vain, he said.

His fellow workers affirm that the fire resulted from the old and poor  electric power installation that created conditions for the fire to erupt.

Ndahimana Theoneste  accuses the EWSA’s agents who recently have installed new cables in the compound.

He urged that due to the fact that the factory’s machines were new, nothing else might have caused the fire apart from the poor electric cables installation made by EWSA agents in recent days.

Most of the 30 workers in the compound did not sign working contracts, a situation that can cause them to loose their jobs.

The Executive secretary of the Kimihurura Sector, Mapambano Nyiridandi regretted the loss as these houses were not under insurance protection.

For the Spokesperson of the National Police, Spt  Modeste Mbabazi, the Police firefighting  vehicles intervened as quickly as possible.

He urged the businessmen who build new compounds to construct in accordance  with the norms and regulation of urbanization.

Apart from the items that were destroyed, no human beings have lost their lives, the report says.

In Gikondo, an other container full of  commercial items worthy between 2 and 5 million Rwf were destroyed by the fire, Police has reported.
