This show aimed at assessing whether  the newly set up institutions namely  the Rwanda Energy Group (REG)” and  “Water and Sanitation Corporation (WSC)”  will be able to re-mediate the existing insufficiency of both electric and water supplies.

The invited guests were Mugiraneza Jean Bosco  the CEO of Rwanda Energy Group and Sano James the CEO of the WSC.

According to Sano James, the Rwandan government has planned to invest in water sanitation so that the whole population  will be consuming  clean water  not later than 2017.

He said that all water reserves in Rwanda will be treated as to be cleaner and healthier so that more Rwandans would be able to use it.

According to Sano, the fact that the EWSA has been divided into two factions was necessary as to make the institution more productive and fruitful.

Regarding the electric power supplies, Mugiraneza Jean Bosco affirmed that in the coming three years the electric energy supplies will be increased  and cover  the big part of the Rwandan territory.

He said that  more megawatts will be fetched from  new electric plants that will be installed in different corners of Rwanda and other megawatts will be bought from other countries such Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda among others.

Other electric power  will be transformed from the wind, and energies reserves, he said.

Asked whether all these goals will be achieved, he said all things are possible with the political willingness as this is a governmental policy.

Another strategy that will  be of a great importance will to assess the working skills of the workers in both institutions as to find out who are better placed in their respective working places and the ones who are don’t.

Regarding the pricing, both Sana and Mugiraneza affirmed that the pricing will be cost recovery, meaning that prices will depend  on what has been invested but all will be done in order to provide the quality services to the clients.

Listeners were eager to find out by which mechanisms the selected targets will be achieved in few years and months. Another said that the statistics presented by the speakers are not accurate.

One of the listeners said it would be better if there would be other competitors to these institutions so that they might be more effective.

The EWSA has been criticized for  the mismanagement of the public funds. As to handle  this issue, the Government has decided to set up two separate institutions namely REG( Rwanda Energy Group ) and WSC (Water and Sanitation Corporation, WSC).
