The Minister of Education and the Chancellor of KHI made this call today on 29th August 2013 during the 10th graduation ceremony.  He urged the graduates of KHI to keep on upholding the values of humanity, integrity and time management wherever they will be serving.

Honorable Minister of Education, Vicent Biruta, thanked KHI for the strides they have so far made in training qualified health professionals and their initiative to know the productivity of KHI graduates through the tracer study they conducted.

He called upon other higher learning institutions to conduct similar studies so as to back the ministry of education in improving the quality of education as well as introducing the skills needed for the country’ development.

The Minister of Education called upon the private sector to keep on investing in education but mainly in biomedical and allied health sciences, sciences and technology and agricultural studies that will spur the development of the country. The Minister revealed that starting with next academic year all public universities are going to merged into the University of Rwanda. He called each and every one to contribute significantly to its success in improving the quality of education in Rwanda.

Dr. KABAGABO Chantal, the Acting Rector of KHI thanked the government of Rwanda, who through the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of health has backed the institute in its undertakings of imparting quality education to the students.

She also thanked other stakeholders who have been working with KHI from its inception up to the present. Among them include Handicap International, Center for Diseases Control, ICAP, Tulane University, Capacity Building Pooled Funds and the Western Ontario University among many others who increased the capacity of KHI in terms of curricula development, research and in upgrading the lecturers’ levels.

On this 10th graduation Ceremony, 391 students among whom 106 with Advanced Diploma, 271 students with Bachelor’s degrees, 4 students with a Master’s degree in Critical Care and Trauma Nursing and 10 students with a Certificate in Professional Counseling received their degrees.

UWAYEZU Jeanne Marie Gloriose, MUNEZERO Pacifique all from General Nursing emerged the best students in the Faculty of Nursing Sciences.

BIZIMANA Anasthase from the Department of Ophthalmology and NDATUMUREMYI from the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences emerged the best students in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. In the Faculty of Community Health Development, NKURUNZIZA Fabien Idrissa from the department of Environmental Health Sciences emerged the best.
