Residents of Karongi district express the appreciation for the construction of the Kivu Belt road that aims at joining districts of Karongi, Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Rutsiro and Rubavu.

The dwellers say that its completion will intensely help them in trading and communicating with neighboring areas.

According to the plan, the road will help boost easy transport of people and goods especially between Rwandans and neighbors from DRC (Bukavu and Goma) who trade with Rwandans.

Karongi dwellers expressed their contentment about the availability of that road as it will ease the economic exchanges related to tourism, trade and commerce.

This initiative will be give us good opportunities to trade with Rusizi and Bukavu and the incomers will have to rest in our guest houses and enjoy the fresh air of the environment, one of the residents said.

The executive secretary of the Western Province Paul Jabo commended that initiative, adding that it will increase the district’s social and economic development.

It is scheduled that the road’s construction will be completed in the near future.

Local dwellers are urged to avoid setting valuable investments in the place where the road will be constructed.
