The Head of State Paul Kagame in a meeting held in Addis Abeba invited his pairs to attend an upcoming Transform Africa Summit 2017 to be held in Kigali from 10th to 12th May.

President Kagame said that Africa is growing smarter than ever before

He highlighted the key lines of that Summit on technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Drones, Big Data, Block chain, and 3D printing.

Kagame underlined that for African households to be technologically smart in issues such as homes, offices, schools and cities, it requires it to harness opportunities in exponential technologies.

As the world embraces the 4th Industrial Revolution, the challenge is to catch up in providing universal broadband, he added.

President Kagame said that the Alliance for improving ICT in Africa started with 7 member countries but has grown to 17 countries on board representing a market of about 360 million people.

He said that that meeting marks the 1st anniversary of the SmartAfrica Secretariat, whose host agreement was signed in Addis Ababa last year.

He ended his remarks by thanking the new board members who joined the Alliance.

He therefore thanked the ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao for his unprecedented efforts to boost ICT in Africa generally and in Rwanda in particular.
