The signing ceremony of the delivery of the aid that Japan will be giving Rwanda in the coming years took place today. This package worthy of 14 billion Rwandan francs will be invested in development projects such electric power supply through the increase of the sub-stations.

The first round of this supportive fund was used in reinforcing the electric power supplying capabilities of the Jabana, Gikondo, Rwinkwavu and Musha sub-stations and the second package will used in supporting the economic projects of the Rwandan economic plan labeled the EDPRS 2 as Tomio SAKAMOTO said.

He added that this package will also be invested in different projects such as permanent electricity supply in Kigali city.

The Rwandan Minister of finance Amb Claver Gatete who signed at the Rwandan side told media that the whole package will not be paid back as it is supportive fund not a loan.

The CEO of the Rwanda Energy Group Jean Bosco Mugiraneza said that this package will be used in the establishment of the sub-station of the Ndera and Kabuga in Kigali.

He added that the delivery and investment of the package will play a significant role in reducing electric power cuts in Kigali, adding that these cuts cost Rwanda between 22-23 percent of the whole electricity delivery.

Kigali city consumes 64% of the whole electric power of Rwanda.
