The 21-year old sustained a knee injury in November last year during a match between Police and Amagaju away in Nyamagabe and has since been out of the football limelight.

“When I got injured, Police was there for me. I was taken for the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan and they continued to follow up my situation. Police continued to pay me my salary up to the and of my contract, but in July, doctors established that I needed to undergo an operation and at that time, my two-year contract with Police had expired,” said Crespo.
“It seemed as my career was nearing the end because the required operation was expensive. I wrote a letter to Rwanda National Police leadership in September seeking for support and I was surprised when I received a phone call few days later informing me that police would meet all that was required for my operation including medical bills.”
He undergone a successful operation at King Faisal Hospital early this month and believes he will resume training next month and will be fit for any competitive match in February.
“In reality, this is unusual for a club to support a player who is no longer part of them and I will always be indebted to Police FC, the institution and the entire leadership for being there for me and saving my career.”
“I was receiving all the benefits including salary and medical insurance for the rest of my contract. I will be grateful to play for Police again if given chance, but even if I join another club, Police will always be on my heart.”
Police FC spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean de Dieu Mayira said “Crespo was our player and performing well” adding that “we wish him the best, whether he returns at Police or joins another club.”
