Current business trends are consuming parents ‘time and energy and hinder from spending precious time with family members, especially children.

The Ministry of family planning affirms that this trend impacts on how children receive moral values susceptible of positively shaping their fruitful adulthood.

Childern blame parents who eagerly pursue material wealth and leave behind the mental well-being of their offspring.

Claudine Uwamahoro from Musanze district who is 15 years old utters that she spends little time with parents, adding that this is a reality that invaded many families.

For her the money hunt has overwhelmingly changed the traditional family set up and this has a significant negative impact on children’ mental wellbeing.

This is one of the issues that children will be exposing to the world in the forthcoming Children National Conference to take place this Thursday to take place in Kigali.

The first Children’ National Conference took place in 2004. It is entitled to provide children with time and space to express their concerns and call the general public for taking adequate measures to cater for them.

It also allows them to extrovert what they are willing to become in the future in the name of their motherland.

The Rwandan Minister of family planning and gender equality Esperance Nyirasafari reminded parents that life begins with fecundation and that parents should start caring for their children since that time.

From that very time, parents are urged to keep caring for their children throughout their lives but with different approaches, she added.

Minister Nyirasafari said that Rwandan government has a responsibility of setting up effective policies for family welfare, especially for mothers and children.
