Local people from the sectors of Gishamvu and Ngera blame the local officials for having neglected to innovate the bridge that joins both sectors.
The bridge is located in-between Mukuge cell, Ngera sector, in Nyaruguru District and in Nyumba cell, Gishamvu Sector in Huye district. The most deceiving reality is that the bridge has not been innovated by the Vision Umurenge Program and this discouraged locals.
Vehicles that normally crossed the bridge turned to a nearby road but which is in a bad practicability situation. The road passes through a river located at a relatively remote area form the spoiled bridge. Local people cross the bridge as they go to worship services in the neighboring churches. Others pass the bridge as they head to the local markers such as Huye and health centers.
Few people have vehicles in the neighborhood and those people include local executive secretaries that sometimes cross the bridge, fearfully however.
One of the locals told UM– USEKE that the bridge has never been innovated since the genocide ended, adding that some activities from the UMUGANDA community work were done but did not last longer.
The executive secretary of the Mukuge Cell Ntakirutimana Anatole told UM– USEKE that the rehabilitation of the bridge is beyond their capability, adding that the deplorable state of the bridge has cost much to users
The interruption of the trade and communication activities has negatively impacted to our livelihoods, the anonymous citizen told UM– USEKE.
He urged all concerned and willing institutions to provide a support for the bridge to be rehabilitated.
The Executive secretary of the Nyumba cell, Karanganwa Jean Paul in Gishamvu affirms that the rehabilitation of the bridge excides their both financial and technical abilities, thus calling for an advance support from the well wishers.
